On 21st September '11 I've received a missed call on 19.53 hrs. from no. +25240900331. As usual thinking a important call I dial that no. after sometime, somebody ( from a call center ) in a husky voice then told me that I receive a gift from a sweepstakes & they are calling on behalf of nokia. I then told them where from they are calling, then they said the no. is a toll free no. & exactly after two minutes the line was cut . To my astonishment I found that Rs. 80/- ( eighty only ) was deducted from my prepaid balance. On being enquired in vodafone helpline they told me that the call was an ISD one in canada & the pulse rate is Rs. 40/- per minute. So, how can I assume that such calls are being made & in the process the subscriber have to pay heavily without their knowledge inspite of my mobile no. are in do not disturbed option.

Therefore, my prayer is to refund the call charge that was deducted without any proper knowledge of mine and also mobile service provider (vodafone) should be aware that such horrible calls must be avoided in any circumstances, so that no subscriber like me can't be unnecessary victimized in future.

Regards

Manasdip Chatterjee

Dear Manasdip, after reading your complaint, I have Google'd your mobile number and saw that you have mentioned your phone number in many other websites.

Look, first of all, you must know that you are giving your mobile number out publicly and exposing yourself to abuse by fraudsters. You must stop this habit of giving your mobile number at various websites. Bad people get your number like this and then you fall into trouble.

Your security is in your hands first, then others can help you.

Same number same thing happened with me. This is the second such call in the last one week.
My number too is in DND list.
Online forums indicate it seems to be happening with only Vodafone customers.
Makes me wonder why?
