Beware, Reliance digital Aundh Pune, India store is not authorized for Apple products and Apple denies providing any sort of free online upgrade to product purchased from this branch. Unfortunately, I learnt it after purchasing a Macbook Pro from the same store, and I have a mail from Apple Inc. stating the same. Long list of complaints follows.
I bought a Macbook pro from Reliance digital on 19th July 2012. While purchasing I was told that they can deliver the laptop to my home, if I need the updated software in the machine, however I choose to pick it myself, more so the upgrade was of no use as the latest OS X was not released by then.
Within a week, the new OS was launched (25th July, 2012) and my Macbook is ideally eligible for a free upgrade. However, on requesting for the same on the Apple website, I am told that to receive a free upgrade redeem code, the Macbook should be purchased from an authorized reseller. Also, the last date for this is 24th Aug 2012.
Now, ever since this came to my notice I have been trying to contact the Reliance customer care and every time, I am directed to the FC road branch of i-store with “ we will get back to you” as there standard reply. This has been going on for past 3 weeks. Only until yesterday when an alternate solution was given to me.
Their solution:
1. Come to FC Road i-store (one way 22Km from my work place).
2. Leave the laptop there for a day
3. Go back again to pick it up the next day
4. They will not restore the existing data, all the data in the laptop will be lost

My problem/complaint:
1. Since the beginning I have been only asking for the redeem code, through which I can download and upgrade my machine at my own convenience and also restore my data post upgrade.
2. Driving down to the store (88km in all) for something worth just Rs 1000 is not an option for me, especially when I have to take time off work to get this done. I do not have the time, and I do not state in Pune on weekends.
3. On the day of purchase the store was more than willing for home delivery, but now they say this has never happened in their store.
4. Every one, all round the world gets apple updates online, directly delivered to their PCs where ever they want and whenever they want, yet these store operators follow a policy which is completely out dated. For a brand which is always ahead of its time, these operators operate in a manner which is extinct in the technology world.
5. The store from which I purchased the item has washed hands with the issue. (Reliance Digital, Aundh, Pune). Their manager Mr. Surendra Nandwani, (contact no. 0********37) is very good when it comes to talking, but of no good on delivering the promise.
6. The store which is responsible for service does not care anymore and suggest impractical solution. (i-store FC Road, Pune). Store manager Mr. Imran Shaikh (contact no. 0********7) too had the same outlook towards customer issues.
7. It is not my fault that I bought my Macbook from an unauthorized store, for me Reliance was a reputed brand, but even after bringing the issue to their notice, the people of the store are too arrogant to provide a solution which I rightfully deserve.
8. I have no complaints with the product and I completely admire Apple as a company and a brand, but the kind of service their Indian resellers provide is totally not worth the premium one pays for these devices. I am very sure that had I bought a Dell or an HP, the same configuration would have cost me half the price with far better after sales services.

Few names which constantly provided false claims and do nothing but to postponed my calls are the workers at the Fc i-store named Umesh and Satish (available on the number 02041228994) along with their Assistant store manager named Rajesh Shinde who have no clue about the products and how they operate. All these guys know is to call you at the store and pull you to buy.
