Tata Motors - Complaints with TATA Indica Vista- No resolution by Customer Service

My Name is Gaurav Khurana and I purchsed Indica Vista Aqua with Quadrajet engine from Telmos Automobile ,Hisar (Haryana) on 30.12.08.Other care details as follows :

Engine no: 100 A 2000-0005761
Color; Marine Silver

To inform you, I have started facing number of complaints from the 2nd day onwards only:

1) Center locking problem - I started getting this as first problem just after car purchase. This was resolved after changing the center lock after following up for several times.
2) AC problem- Till date AC is problematic; it does not give enough cooling. I have not been able to get any resolution for this till now.
3) Wheel alignment problem- This is recurring problem every fortnight. Wheel alignment goes out of balance after car run every 1000 KM.
4) Alternator problem- This has been the biggest problem due to which I have suffered a lot. The problem kept getting worsened because Tata online assistant people always told that Exide battery is not working properly, For 4-5 times, no one was able to track the problem only. Every week my car will stop in mid of the way with no help around. After so much, Exide representative only helped me to find out that the alternator is not working properly.

I had to wait for s many days to get that part available in Tata authorized center \"Trans Auto\" Faridabad. After that for every problem, I go back to them and every time my one full day is getting spent in this.

At one such instance one of TATA assigned service center ppl came and told that my coolant is not proper and drained all my coolant. Then they sold me another coolant and charged me for the same.

5) Again Centerlocking problem keeps recurring again: recently it has started giving a very weird sound while it gets automatically locked. Again when help was sought from Trans automobiles (Faridabad), they said that this problem will take time for rectification however they did rectify the problem.

6) Suspention Noise during journey: This is unbearable and irritates one sitting in car.
After that again again Car started having issues with shocker/noise problem. We were in touch with Mr Varun from Tata customer service center. He kept sending us back to Trans Automobiles for correction but till date all our problems are not solved. Infact once Trans automobiles (faridabad) took our car for repairing and meter readin showed that car was driven for 78 kms....though Trans center is not even 1 km far from our residence.

Even now when we again got in touch with Mr Varun, he did not give any convincing solution...again car needs to be checked which they will fix temporarily...anad again car will start having same issues...



--Whenever my car breakdown happens, I am left with no means to go be it in imp meeting/office. Moreover I have to hire a cab and pay them Rs1500.00 /day .

--I have not taken the extended warranty card, whenever I go for repair, tata executive will try and sell extended warranty.

Please understand that the whole experience has been horrible with TATA car as well as their customer center. It makes me to think that \"Why i have purchased TATA CAR” at all. I am fedup with these entire breakdowns.

To tell you very frankly, I am Physically,financially and mentally tortured by your customer care service and product deficiency .


This is ridiculuos experience with TATA motors. I request you to help me out with this.

I support this complaint.All tata products on road are crap.nano and buses catch fire.Indica is a mechanic's darling.They havent even recalled a single model even though all their products are crap.And now Ratan tata is caught with Nira radia and 2 g scam.Icing on the cake.

Varun,

Glad to know that you are not only NOT interested in arguing with customer, infact not 'LISTENING" to customers also. Would also like to recall the words you mentioned about myself being uneducated customer when we first spoke. Hence I am aware on your customer service skills and can be prove same too. Rather than helping a troubled customer, you have ganged up with dealer and torchered customer even more. CSRs like you are notihng but a big shame to big company TATA's name.

Though after your utmost discoutreous behaviour and rude way of talking, I would only want to take it forward with higher officials of TATA. Still you can ponder over my below questions:

1. As a customer, if you car has been to workshop for 10 times within 1 years time of purchase, what would you do? Wouldn't you expect from company's side more warranty for big purchase you have done. That's the least which any company will do knowing that their product has faults??

For AC: Once Trans dealer told me that they have changed a part of my AC? How come they will change a part of my AC without it having any problem?? Probably after teaming up with you, huh?

2. Why will I go for check up to same dealer, if I am not conviced with its service. They can always say again that noise problem is not there. Its customer who knows issue is there.

3. Now your dealer may be lying (under your influenmce or whatever) infact problem with my gear box has been acknowledged by them too, when they took test drive in front of me.

4. You apologize for some time extra taken fpr alternator? First of all you should be ashamed of yourself that you could never detect alternator's problem. It was rep from Exide bttery who suggested this and then probably enlightenment happened to you. Moroever my car had a breakdown for 5 times during that period and everytime we were left stranded on road. Everytime I ahve incurred Rs 1000 -1500 to reach my nearest destination. You can not compensate for agony a customer goes mentally beacuse of these sudden breakdowns or can you??

5.You may have been prompt in writing mails back which seems to be your USP but please not in getting problem resolved. Only by sending car to dealers' place and getting check up done doesn't solve the problem. moreover .Hope you understand that AC is not required in winter that's why I have raised problem again when summer cropped up in April. Also do you customer has only one job of gettinmg car to dealers place for fixing up oncoming issues? That too when my car faults is anyways taking 50 % of my time.

You have not done any favor to me by taking up my problem since thats what you are being hired for, I guess.

6.My office is hardly 12-13 Kms from your dealers palce, even you did pick up done, doesn't mean that mileage would be so high. Hope you understand that whenever I am giving my car to some I will note down reading and have come to this 78 Kms figure after noting my readings only? Do you overhere also want to imply that customer is lying?? Great customer service then you can boast about yourself.

I would humbly request you to keep you 5 ltr diesel with yourself so that you can use this gimmick with some other customer. I need proper justice to my concerns.

You and your product being repeatedly failure has already been proven. If you see records of complaints logged on for my car only you would be able to see them. Only by you shutting down your eyes and not seeing them doesn't make them invisible. As I have already mentioned that I am not ok with services rendered by trans automobiles, not sure why am I forced to go there only.

After knowing your intent and behaviour with the customer, I am anyways not interetsed in taking this up with you. With my below I asked you if I can talk to any senior. Now since I have got nothing convincing from you, I would approach you senior management on my own. With this, I would like to thank you very much for all your precious time you gave in torchering me even more than what I was already because of this vehicle. Keep doing this great job, wish you good luck.

Dear Mr. Khurana

As a company official we are never in a tune to argue with any customer, but from your very first mail it seems that you are more interested in getting the Extended Warranty as a complementary rather than fixing up the issues if any in your vehicle.
Before getting into the detailed report I would like to mention few of the points which I had mentioned earlier also:
Problems reported by you for Noise & AC was checked by our dealer which was even crosschecked by us but none of the problems were observed. That's the reason we requested for a joint trial with you.
Problem reported by you for Gear Box was checked by our dealer but none of the problems for the same nature was observed.
We agree that once the Alternator was failed against which New Alternator has already been replaced in your vehicle. however we understand that some extra time was taken by us for the procurement of the Alternator for which we have really apologized for the time delay.
From the below trailing mails it is quite evident that whenever you have raised your voice for any issue, we have done our efforts to give you a prompt, immediate & comfortable service on priority. Against your last complaint vehicle was checked by our dealer on 9th Jan 2010 at 24474 Kms against which you raised the issue for the same on 13th April 2010. It means that the vehicle was driven for 3 Months approx. We believe that a customer cannot drive his car even with a Single problem for such a long time. But still keeping your words on the top If you still feel that the problem really persists in your vehicle, you are requested to personally show it to Mr. Vikram.
Now, answering your question that How your vehicle was made to run 78 Kms ?? Let me recall you on those parts that during your last complaint you made a request to pick up & drop for your vehicle as you were slightly buisy. After doing all the regular checks the vehicle was dropped to your place. Even for the same exercise the vehicle cannot be driven for 78 Kms. I guess that there is slight mis-understanding which needs to be corrected. We always welcome you to check the job card opening Kms & may compare with the mileage Kms in which the vehicle was dropped to your place. But still if feel that this has been done, we don't want the issue to be extended further & offer you a 5 Litre Diesel which might compensate your diesel expenses.
Considering all the above points, I guess you will also agree on the fact that the assurance given by us has never resulted in any repeat failure.
Being a manufacturer we deliver what we say... a small request what I would like to make from you is that rather than exchanging any mails further on any issues in order to counter any of the above problems please take out some of your precious time in having a joint trial with Mr. Vikram who may assist you in resolving the issues if any.
Now explaining about the Extended Warranty part: Tata Motors has a tie up with an external insurance company for the Extended warranty facility which we offer to the customers on paid basis. Main eligibility of the purchase of Extended Warranty is 14 months from Date of Sale. After crossing this barrier even if the customer wants Extended warranty cannot be purchased.
In your case, Date of Sale of your vehicle is 31-12-2008 which means that it is difficult to get the Extended warranty even on Paid basis.
I hope with this communication we have tried to clarify on all your issues. we still wait your confirmation for a joint trial with you for further check up.
