Complaint by: Vivek Sharma on January 10, 2010, 4:49 pm in Indian Railways

My father underwent surgical procedure at Tata Memorial Centre, Mumabi for oral cancer in August 2004. Thereafter, he used to have regular visits at an interval of 6 months for follow-up checkups. Last, he visited hospital on 15/9/09. Hospital gave him an appointment for 15/3/2010 for consequent visit.

During his last visit, Hospital issued him two numbers of Railway Concession form – one for the return journey (valid for 3 months which has already been utilized) and another for next hospital visit that is valid for 12 months i.e. up to 18/9/2010.

As per the given schedule of appointment he has to visit Tata Memorial Hospital for consultation on 15/3/2010. For this when he produced concession form no-093723 (Issued on 18/9/2009 – valid up to 18/9/2010 by the said hospital) to the Station Master Jhunjhunu (Raj.) for purchasing the ticket, the Station Master refused to accept it and thereby giving any concession and in furtherance he is threatening to recover even the earlier concessions availed by him against the concession form issued by the hospital.

If the validity of the concession form cannot be more than 3 months – the same should be clearly mentioned on the certificate – so that innocent patients don’t have to suffer humiliation at the hands of Railway Authorities. Else if the Station Master is erring here then necessary steps may be taken to bring him to the books.
