I decided to buy a gaming laptop as I'm an avid gamer and the thing about these laptops is that they're expensive. Before buying a did a careful recon of all the gaming laptops within my budget and after a lot of consideration and paying heed to some of peers I decided to go for the Lenovo Ideapad Y510p powered by the 4th generation Haswell Intel i7 processor(2.35 GHz - 3.4Ghz), 2GB Nvidia GT755m dedicated graphics and Intel HD 4600 integrated graphics. 1TB HD and 8GB RAM, it was a beast of a machine and it looked like one too with a red backlit keyboard, speakers powered by JBL audio and a full HD screen and a metallic finish to give it the edge over all other gaming laptops.

One month from the date of buying, I started to feel the laptop reaching 100 degrees Celsius when gaming and there were slight instances of lag while gaming, the OS seemed to be unresponsive at times, along with the non functionality of the Bluetooth on upgrading to Windows 8.1.

I immediately reached out to Lenovo tech support and they instructed me to do a one key recovery which I did in spite of the inconvenience it caused, but the end result was a no fix.

So after a few more calls to them, they sent an engineer to fix the issue who was not only unsuccessful in rectifying the issue but deemed the heating as normal and did an unnecessary downgrade unknowingly thus erasing all my softwares, he asked me to send him a video snap if there were any graphical issues when gaming and he would take further action.

In about 3 weeks, I started experiencing flickering which rendered my laptop completely useless, so I gave Lenovo tech support another call, they immediately sent an engineer who stated it was a problem with the LCD connector and it was loose, so he removed the panel and refixed the cable(while doing so, they broke off the bezel of the display border)the display seemed fine and as for all the other issues they tried to rectify it by updating some drivers which did not help and they left.

2 weeks later, I could not run any games on my laptop. The frame rates dropped to an average of 15fps and the rendering was very jaggy and choppy, this occurred while watching videos and movies too.

I was beyond frustrated and I called tech support, they took their own sweet time in getting back to me. After a week they arranged for an engineer visit but by then the problem had gotten sort of rectified after doing an one key recovery on my own. They said the laptop was absolutely fine but they'd confer with their senior and then get back to me. They did not do so for another 2 weeks and I was forced to send 3-4 emails stating my grievance to the Services head, he then assigned a special team to look into my case. They immediately sent an engineer over, who did a routine checkup and concluded that there was a major heating issue( after 6 months) and the OS was slow.

They ordered for a heat sink and fan replacement which came in a week and the engineer sent to fix the part had no experience and he had to refer to his cell phone to dismantle the laptop but eventually succeeded in doing so.

Finally the heating issue had been solved, after 6 months of bearing with the issue, one had been solved.

Nevertheless all other issues were still persistent.

2 days later, the display problem resurfaced and I sent a video snap to the engineer handling the case who previously had stated that the games I had problems with weren't supported by my laptop(which was his POV as my colleague has the same machine which runs the same with ease and smoothly).

He deemed the problem has a motherboard problem, 100% and ordered for a replacement which arrived in 4 days but even after the problem persisted.

I was fed up by then. I asked the Lenovo people for a replacement/refund as the machine was clearly a faulty one as it had needed 2 part replacements within 2 months of use.

They blatantly refused and stated it is impossible for either to be done and instead I give then "one last chance" and hand over the laptop to their service station failing which they'd escalate the case.

Till date I have exchanged more than 40 mails with Lenovo, to which less than half have been replied to and currently they have begun ignoring my mails when I threatened I'd file a complaint with the consumer forum.
