Dear Sir/Madam,

I want to bring to your notice the incident that happened on the 25th of November 2010 in the afternoon at 3 pm at the Blackberry service center located in thane at shop no F-11, Eternity Mall, Teen Hath Naka, Thane (w). I have purchased a Blackberry Curve 8520 (Red) on 5th November 2010 (BBpin: 222AE08E). on 24th November 2010, I was at the thane railway station when it started raining, and I ran towards a rickshaw in the rain. My phone was in my pocket. When I reached the rickshaw, I dried my hands and saw my phone. The screen was flickering and finally went dead. The next day, i.e 25th November 2010, I went to the above mentioned authorized service center for diagnosis of my phone.
I waited for a while, after which I was told that I have to call the Blackberry Customer service number to get a service id, and I did so. My service ID is BB0052032. I filled out an application form, after which the phone was then taken and inspected after which my back cover and battery was given to me. On request, I also got my memory card. I was then told that I would have to pay a non refundable amount of seven hundred and fifty rupees, which I paid. I was told, on asking that the phone is sent to the head office to Bangalore and I would be given the estimate within 5-7days. the phone repair could take up to 10 days or more. After which a job sheet was printed in duplicate and my application stapled along with one copy of the job sheet was kept with them, and one copy of the job sheet was given to me.
When I read the fine print in the terms and conditions (pt. no 12- minimum inspection and estimation charges will be Rs. 180 and should be paid if the unit is collected without repair), I questioned the madam in charge about the cost. I do not know the name of the person there as they were not wearing any name tags. I brought this to her notice but she refused to co-operate or even listen to me. I offered to show her the job sheet where the above clause is mentioned but she did not pay any heed to me. Finally, I spoke to someone else there, who instructed her to charge me rs. One hundred and eighty and not seven hundred and fifty. I was given the refund of the rest of the money and only Rs.180 was charged. I did not receive a receipt of the same. In the light of the situation, I feel as it is mentioned in pt.12 that the money should have been taken after inspection when my phone would be returned. also, the service center would have charged me rupees seven hundred and fifty instead of rupees one hundred and eighty had I not brought it to their notice.
I have lost all trust in them and would like to deal with the company independently. Also, I don't think a phone should become dead on minor contact with rain. On the job sheet my name is mentioned as Maithli when in fact it is Maithili. Also my email id is mentioned as dr.maithli.bai@gmail.com, when in fact it is dr.maithili.pai@gmail.com. I am attaching a copy of the original bill and also a copy of the job sheet. I have had phones of many companies in the past but none of them have given me the shoddy experience I have received at the Blackberry center.

Hoping to get a prompt reply,

Yours sincerely,
Dr. Maithili P. Pai
