I have purchased a 1TB Western Digital HDD with Serial No.WCC0T0262358 around January 2012, this Hard drive was a second grade hard drive just like the WD company, it was giving problems since the time of purchase but I was not sure whether it’s the hard drive, however after about 20-25 days the hard drive was not working at all, so I contacted Western Digital for a replacement, I also needed support for Data Recovery, WD representatives informed me that WD doesn’t provide any DATA RECOVERY SERVICES FOR INDIAN CUSTOMERS, I told them it’s a new hard drive and I have about 300GB of important Data to take backup to this they replied I can contact a third party Data Recovery service. However there is a Advance Replacement service from Western Digital where in Replacement Hard drive will be sent before hand i.e.., before the defective hard drive is shipped to my utter disappointment they informed me even ADVANCE REPLACEMENT SERVICE IS LIMITED TO AMERICAN, EUROPEAN and CANADIAN CUSTOMERS AND ITS NOT FOR INDIAN CUSTOMERS . WD is CLEARLY STILL IN APARTHEID ERA by this I don't mean they are racist even though they act otherwise, however Seagate has the option of Advance Replacement shipment for Asia Pacific Region also. I highly doubt about the quality of the WD hard drive either its of second grade quality or its replacement HDD, no hard drive ever gone bad within 20-25 days of usage, I keep my PC updated with Anti Virus, regularly scans it and also run cleanup's to delete temporary files in short I try all possibilities to protect my hard drive. I sent a Mail in January 2012 to WD to at least send me a NEW HARD DRIVE as a replacement not the REFURBISHED ONE, to this y WD replied.

We are sorry to inform you that we will not be able to ship the Replacement Drive to the customer without receiving the defective unit in our warehouse.
Moreover the Replacement Drive which will be shipped to the customers are Refurbished Drives not a Prime Drive.
However we have escalated your request to the higher authorities to check whether it is possible to do as you requested.
Kindly provide us some time so we can get back to you with an update.
Your co-operation in this case will be highly appreciated.

After the above mail, I never received any communication from them since then to date that is 1st June-2012. I request the authorities to stop being discriminative and send me a new hard drive as advance replacement so that I can try taking back up in that one, as no DATA RECOVERY CENTER is ready to store 300 GB of data.
