This is in reference to the news appeared in Hindustan Times dated 8th June, 2015 on the subject that “Soon, you can upgrade to fly cheap if train ticket fails to confirm”.
While this initiative is a good step but at the same time I would like to point out that this may not be fit for the middle class people. They may not able to tolerate such high price to fly on air at that juncture when the ticket is not confirmed and waiting listed even after booking the ticket three months back. To streamline this issue I will suggest that instead of making fly arrangement government should seriously consider for adding more bogies to accommodate the waiting listed persons. Generally, final chart is prepared about 3 or 4 hours before leaving the train where the railway might know how many persons are waiting listed. To accommodate them sufficient number of bogies should be added for which railways has enough time i.e. 3-4 hours in hand. This, railway will appreciate, will facilitate both passengers and railways by the way of getting the passengers accommodation and that no revenue loss to the railways by the way of no ticket cancellation.
Competent railway authorities are requested to please throw a light into this direction to make the rail journey more comfortable to the people.
