Complaint by: frustated commuter on January 6, 2010, 4:39 pm in Government and Police

Since several years Coimatore utos are fleecing public by not operating on meter basis. They charge a minimum Rs.40/- then as high as a total Rs.150/-for a 6 km journey. Many a Collector/Mayor has come and gone, still nobody is able to tackle the auto unions.

Autos are members either of unions, or get their clout from political parties & local goonda element, and even from policemen who themself own autos.

The simplest way is declare autos as \"Essential servies\" and apply the meters compulsorily, citing \"Esttential commodities act\".

Thiswill overrule handicaps of Police, RTO, and concerned depts.

In Mumbai, a 3 km journey by Tax costs Rs.13/-.In Coimbatore it is Rs.60/-.

Complainant's Goal: Get reasonable tariff of travel by autos
