Dear Sir,
Once again hit by HSBC executive\'s improper communication, almost from the past 2 months I am facing linked problems.
I had done a Balance Transfer (BT) in one card(for eg A), the local executive who canvased me, she did not tell me that I should not do BT when I have an existing purchase balance because when BT and Purchase amnt are placed in a statement, what ever the amount you repay it would be considered deduction only for BT amnt and not for the purchased amount, By which in the next statement the interest will be charged for the purchased amnt and will be followed till the BT amnt is completely repaid. (Example- 1st Statement 30K of BT amnt + 10 of Purchase amnt, in the statement total 40K and you repay 20K considering 10K for purchase amnt and 10K for BT considering 30K for 3months 0% interest with processing fee alone.
But what happens is HSBC will deduct 20K towards BT amnt and in the next month they will charge 3.3% interest on 10K purchase amnt and give a statement of 20K BT amnt + 10K purchase amnt + 3.3%interest for 10K purchase amnt)
Before receiving the statement I had already completed 2nd BT on the same card. After which I had seen the statement I called the customer service and they explained the complete details and made me understand that I should come directly to HSBC for the BT rather than a local representative who has been deputed by HSBC, 1st improper communication from HSBC executive(outsourced). Since I was totally frustrated I told the HSBC executive to cancel the card immediately, then my call was transferred to senior executive at cancelling section where I was convinced to retain the card, but at last cancelled the card with the confirmation from that senior executive that the 2nd Balance transfer will remain as it is and I need to pay the amnt as per the BT terms which was accepted and cancelled. Cancelling the card was at most an emotional decision.
Later I thought that the HSBC credit card was useful for more than 3years and only this was the first time this kind of issue happened that too because of outsourced staff, I made my mind to get a credit card revoked again. I called the customer care and informed to revoke the cancelled card but he told it is not possible to revoke but can *issue new card with all the existing facilities as per the old card A including BT. Then after a week I recd the new card B and now I had recvd the statement of card A & card B. Since I was only able to open the statement of card A I called the customer care (Ms.Glory) for some clarifications because the amnt of BT from card A has been transferred to card B automatically. Then I came to know that the BT amnt has been transferred to card B as purchased amnt and I need to pay the complete amnt or min due towards the card B where in complete payment or paying with interest is not possible now as my finance plan has been made considering BT. Then after a long hot discussion with the executive (Ms.Glory), I could understand that I was not communicated properly by the senior executive who cancelled my card. 2nd time improper communication to the customer.
I here by request that the amount transferred to card B needs to be converted as BT amnt and not purchased amnt which is as per the oral statement* of the executive who gave the new card B or it will be 3rd time improper communication from HSBC executive.
I hope the above statements are understandable, expecting your solution on the same before 6th April 2010 as the payment due is 8thApril 2010. If the amount is not considered as balance transfer in the new card B then, I will consider cancelling the new card B, which will be a factual decision.
Please call me at 0********21 / 0********21
Note: As your earlier mail told not to disclose the card no., the same is taken care. My name is M MEIYAPPAN
