Complaint by: CA.M. Ganesan on February 18, 2010, 9:16 pm in Indian Railways

We travelled by train no: 213 (Mysre-Tirupathi) on 14/02/2010 leaving Mysore at 5:15pm to Bangarpet. (Ticket No: 44490838). We could not board the train since all the unreserved passengers got into the compartment and had difficulty in getting accomadation after convincing the passengers that this is reserved compartment.
Like us others also had difficulty in getting their reserved berths resulting in skirmishes with unreserved passengers. This can be avoided by ensuring locking of the compartment and allow passengers with valid reserved tickets. The TC for our S2 compartment did not turnup. The TC checked our tickets after the train crossed Byappanahalli. Eventhough we paid full sleeper charges we could not use our berths leave alone travel comfortably.

Only 3 or 4 compartments were reserved compartments but to our astonishment all were like unreserved compartments. Having paid the berth charges we could not occupy even sitting accomadation as 6 people were sitting in one lower berth in addition,5 to 6 people were sitting in Upper berth with their shoes on causing inconvenience to the passengers in lower berth.

The travelling time from Mysore to Bangalore was 4 hours on that day and the TC did not turned up till the train reached Bangalore. Nearly 75 people boarded in sleeper class with unreserved tickets.

The railway authorities should strictly advise the TC’s to be in reserved coaches well in advance and advise the unreserved passengers to move to their U/R compartments.
