I have purchased a bicycle (Model Maxit Crossbow 1.0 Red/White) from Hypercity store, Malad branch on the 5th of March 2010 vide cash memo# 1713 for Rs.6,999/-.

After coming home, I have noticed that the rear derailer and gear shifters (on the handle bar) are of Shimano make, surprisingly the front derailer is of a make called Saiguan and the rear cassette is of a make called tri-diamond.

As per the web site of Hypercity retail http://www.hypercityindia.com/FoodSpecialServices.aspx?vard=bWFpbmlkPTcmc3ViY2F0aWQ9Mjc. the mentioned cycle, they claim is fitted with 18 Speed Shimano Gear and Qualifies for Shimano Silver reliability program. The bicycle also has a large sticker saying Shimano equipped.

I feel very cheated and have brought it to the notice of Hypercity malad customer service and sports division. They say that since it was a under Rs.10,000/- cycle, it was fitted with the Saiguan derailer. After me explaining to them that I was informed that the cycle was fitted with Shimano gears by the store, website and the sticker on the bicycle. they told me that if I was not satisfied with the bicycle they would accept the bicycle back and return my money.

My problem is not with the bicycle but with Hypercity for misinforming me by claiming that the bicycle is fitted with 18 Speed Shimano Gear and Qualifies for Shimano Silver reliability program which is not true.

Now the store has started a blame game first on the buyer for their store and him in turn blaming the supplier. I want to get what the bicycle claims and besides having my own problem sorted, also stop hypercity from misinforming the general public with their false claims.
