Dear Sir,
I purchased a new Samsung Split A/c (Model: AS 182 SSBNSTL) on 24-Oct-2010 @ Viveks (Adyar).
The A/c was installed at my home after 3 days. It seemed to be working fine when it was installed.
Since the months of Nov. & Dec. are relatively cool in Chennai compared to other months we rarely used our a/c during this 2 months. During Jan we started using our a/c regularly. Then we noticed after some 3-4days that it is not cooling properly or it smelled like there is some problem in cooling as we noted the difference in running time of the a/c and the cooling efficiency. Soon, we called the Samsung Customer Care the next day and lodged a complaint. The service person arrived home the day after and took the outdoor unit for repair, as he stated that the compressor has failed and needs replacement.
After 8 business days i again made up a call to the Samsung Customer Care and asked for any updates. Then that day afternoon the service person came and again installed the outdoor unit with the new compressor fitted in. Then again for 3 days the a/c worked fine and again the same problem of cooling raised. I again called up the Customer care and they once again replaced the compressor for another time. This incident happened once again in another 3-4 days’ time and they again suggested me to go for a replacement of the compressor. Oh man!, its high time for me now and i am totally fed up with this product. Then i again shouted at the customer care people for selling such a poor quality product.
This time a senior person (service Head) spoke to me and assured me that this will not happen again and will get the issue fixed up in 2 working days. As he said he fixed up the issue in 2 working days and re-installed it at my home.
Now, this 3rd replaced compressor survived for a couple of months. With the onset of summer during June the A/c once again broke down as it failed to cool our room for the 4th time. I and my family members were in high temper and anger for investing on this product. I again called the customer care and explained them the issue. I asked them to look out for the root cause of the problem instead blindly changing the compressor every time, but of no use. They again had the compressor replaced with a new one and returned back the product to me after 12 business days. Just imagine having buying an a/c and spending our nights without it for 12 business days.
Then again after a few months in Jan 2012, the same cooling problem raised. This time i dint launch a complaint at the customer care but asked them to just take their product back and refund me the amount that i have spent on it. I was in total fed up mode at this time. Whenever during hot days we start using our a/c it fails then what is the use of buying this one?
This time my product was out of warranty and now the service person who came to inspect told us that compressor is all fine but the gas had got leaked and hence it needs to be refilled. For refilling the charge will be approx. Rs. 2,500 /- he added. I said i will not pay any amount for this issue as not even 5 full months have passed after the replacement of the compressor (which was done last time). The issue then got escalated and a senior person from Samsung spoke to me. I said the same to him that i am not going to pay any amount on this product for which i have already made an investment wrongly. He was not convinced and he said since it is out of warranty i need to pay and said no other go. Then I simply told him i don’t want your product please take it away and return me my money. He was still saying the same. Then I asked him - not even 6 months have passed after installing the previous compressor and its gas has been leaked out without being using the a/c frequently. Is this the quality of their product? Do i need to keep on spending for refilling the gases every 4-5 months? I then said i am surely going to launch a complaint at the consumer court on this product and let me hear their judgment. Then after a while the senior person from the Samsung again called me up and asked me to pay the transportation cost of Rs.1,500 occurred while transporting the outdoor unit from home to workshop and back to home.
I denied to pay even that and i said let me meet you people at the court. Soon after a while i got another call from the same person and he said "sir, it seems this time also there was a compressor failure only in your a/c and it had been replaced now and its working fine. So you no need to pay any charges". This reply of him shocked me even more.
But after 3 months again down the line this problem has occurred now (April 2012) again too. I have registered a complaint again with Samsung customer care on (28-apr-2012) and i have not got any response from any of them. I called the customer care again twice but they said the issue had been escalated and a senior member would call me back in half an hour. But days have passed yet i have not received any calls.
Request the court to file this complaint, and sue this company and the product and benefit me for the money that i have wasted in buying this product and the phone calls that have been made to the customer care and other service persons and for also the time that had been wasted so far.
Regards,
Kapil
