Respected Sir,

My name is Anant Kulkarni, one of the thousands of regular passengers who use the services of this great system called Indian Railways on a regular basis. I would like to bring to your notice one such incident which caused great amount of humiliation.harassment and mental trauma to me, my wife and few fellow passengers.

I was travelling from, Yeshwantpur to Bagalkot on 1/12/2010 with an authenticated ticket reserved online(copy of which is attached). I have also attached the identity proof (scanned copy of my PAN CARD). I was carrying the photo copy of it because of the fear of losing the original. After some time the TC on duty came for checking and raised objections with the identity proof shown. I told him that I don't have the original and I even offered him to give an undertaking saying I will furnish the original PAN CARD as soon as the train reaches BAGALKOT station, as I could have asked my son to get it for me. However the TC was not in a position to listen as he was under the heavy influence of Alcohol, he started hurling abuses and started humiliating me in front of my wife and few other passengers. My wife who got scared by the developments almost suffered a panic attack. After seeing all this I didn't have any other option but to heed to TC's demands. He took 2000 Rs from me and for asking receipts I had to face another barrage of hurls and abuses. He also threatened that he will call the police and throw me and my wife out of the running train. Finally he gave me a receipt for 1132 Rs. Copy of which is also attached. I also have the contact details of co-passengers who can testify this incident if required.

I also dropped a mail to ccmps@scr.railnet.gov.in,cmd@scr.railnet.gov.in,cptm@scr.railnet.gov.in on 2nd December but so far not heard anything from them.

This has completely shaken my belief and trust in the system and I request you to guide me on the future course of action that I can take to protest this incident.

Regards,
Anant Kulkarni
