When applying for pancard to my daughter, at karvy financial service at Yelahanka, on 12-08-2011 I was asked to get an attestation from a Gazetted officer. I approached a public notary who told she is also a gazetted officer, got her signature and seal with regn no on the proforma. When approached karvy agencies refused to accept the notary signature as Gazetted officers signature. What perplexed me is notary being an oath recording official whose signatures are honoured even in courts, how can notarys signature not valid as a gazetted officer. Clarifications are needed as to who is a gazetted officer and what difference does it have if the signature of attestation is from a public authority.
