I bought a Canon FS10 camcorder body sr. no. ********6331 on 13/08/08. Couple of months later the charger stopped working for no good reason. It was replaced by Canon, however, the replaced charger also stopped working after couple of months! Now, even though the 2 year warranty on the camcorder is not over, Canon says the adapter cannot be replaced because adapters have only 6 months warranty! Is Canon trying to sweep a faulty product recall issue under the carpet here? How can both the original and replaced adapters die within months of use. I see a lot of complaints on Canon power adapter (model CA-590). What is Canon doing about this?
Hi all, Even my adapter is gone , can anyone let me know where i can get a new adapter in chennai.?
Email Mridu.Arora@canon.co.in at their Delhi HO and ask them to instruct the local service center to give you a free replacement because this charger is defective. My complaint was resolved by Canon when I started talking tough with them. You are entitled to a free replacement because Canon has faced more than usual warranty claims on this charger i.e. it is inherently defective. I asked the service center about this pointedly and he kinda admitted that there is some problem with this particular charger model.
i am also facing the same issue. when i contacted the customer care they give some number in chennai. when i call them they provide some other number. after dialing more than 10 number, one person said it is not available. better try in local market in richy street, chennai.
i dont want any replacement from canon for free of cost. i am ready to pay for a new one CA590. i am unable to use camcord FS10 for more than 6 months.
I support this complaint.the same thing
happened to me also.for last 1 month i am waiting for that power adapter (model CA-590), cannon is cheating us

Wow! and I thought I was the only one having this problem. I've never ever seen a charger / power adapter going off in a lifetime. But this one is gone all of a sudden? eventually my battery discharged to 0 V and now I cannot use my camcorder.
For tech savvy people, I cut the cord and connected to a 9V DC adapter and with the cord on I could at least transfer my recordings into PC. However my battery doesn't charge. So it looks like my battery and adapter both gone at the same time.
