My daughter was returning from New Delhi yesterday by Purushottam Express after a school group excursion. We had been tracking the movenemnt of the train to choose an appropriate time to go and pick her up from Tatanagar staion. Strangely enquiry made at computerised railway no. 139 informed us at 9.25 pm that train is expected to arrive at 21.17 hrs in place of scduled arrival time of 20.05 hrs.
We reacehd the station at 10 pm to be told by the manual eenquiry clerk that the train was expected at 22.30 hrs. While waiting at the platform and announcement was made over the PA system at 22.27 hrs that the train has arrived and is on the platform. Subsequently at 22.40 hrs another announcement said the train would arrive shortly. The train came in to the atation at 22.48 hrs.
This morning I checked the train running ststus over the internet where it shows the arrival timing at Tatanagar as 21.45 hrs.
I am amazed at the plethora of misleading information regarding the running status of the train.
