Dear Sir/Madam,
There are at least two authorized outlets (telephone booth cum platform ticket selling booth) to sell platform tickets near the Bangalore city railway station. One is on the way from the subway connecting the city bus stand to the railway station while the other is just outside (on the left side) of the unreserved ticket counters.
Today (on 26th April 2012), I went to railway station at about 12.30pm to give send off to one of my young cousins who is 15 year old. He had a reserved ticket and I wanted to buy a platform ticket. There was huge rush in the unreserved ticket counters. When I went to the platform ticket selling booth which is just outside the building for selling unreserved tickets, he demanded Rs.4/- when the cost of the platform ticket is only Rs3/-. When questioned why he is charging more, he simply refused to give the ticket. The other agent authorized to sell the platform ticket said that there was no power and that he couldn't give me a platform ticket.
I went inside the building and found a counter selling only the platform tickets. There was a line albeit a small one. I stood in the queue and bought a platform ticket.
It will be nice if the automatic platform ticket vending machines are re-installed in the city railway station (there used to be those machines a few months before). Action should be taken against the platform ticket selling agents for demanding more money than the actual cost of the ticket and for refusing to give a platform ticket on wrong pretexts.
with regards,
Aswani Kumar K
