Brian - Sony Vaio laptop given me problems in 4 months time

I bought a brand new Sony Vaio for my daughter in Oct 2010 and in Jan 2010, it just would not start up while she was in new zealand, she took it to the Sony service center as it has global warranty and after checking it they say the hard drive has crashed and the LCD display requires to be changed for a sum off $NZ 800. I have called for the lap top back but i am very dissapointed with the Sony as i find their products are neither long last or dependable, this is my second bad experience with Sony laptops.
