Personal - Private banks harassing the customers

This is with reference to my account no. 0327XXXXXX1383, i found that there is AQB transaction took place on 08/07/2010 for an amount of Rs. 827/-. This is to state that for my account the AQB limit is Rs. 2500/- which i was maintaining since last four years. But this time you have deducted the above said amount which is not acceptable by me. I have not been communicated for any increase of AQB, if you would have communicated me about increase of AQB, i would have closed my account, since i know that i cannot maintain AQB of Rs. 5000/-. This is come to know after visiting my account branch at paschim vihar. It was very harassing for me about deduction of Rs. 827 without intimating me.
As per the discussion with the branch manager, the AQB limit was doubled and same was communicated via email and statement. Here my submission is that first, i usually see attached statement where this instruction was not mentioned. Second the mail contain four five pages for which the reading time required is very much and i don’t have this much time to read a complete mail. Third my account does not lay in any of the category mentioned in the mail, whereas you should mention specifically the type of account if want to deduct some penalty amount. I am attaching a portion of mail which you sent me, and this i came to know from your branch manager.

The Average Quarterly Balance (AQB) requirements of various deposit accounts have been reviewed considering the features and services offered for each type of account. Based on the review, the AQB for all Savings Regular accounts will be revised effective 1st April, 2010. The revised AQB will be as follows:
• Savings Regular account - Rs. 10,000 for Metro/Urban branches and Rs. 5,000 for Semi-urban/Rural branches
• Kids Advantage account - Rs. 5,000 for all the branches
• Senior Citizen account - Rs. 5,000 for all the branches
The revision is not applicable to customers who are a part of Corporate Salary/Imperia/Preferred/Classic programmes.

I want to further say that the amount you deducted is Rs. 827/-inclusive of service tax, first thing is that i have not taken this service, this is a penalty and whereas as per my understanding the penalty does not come under service tax. No body want to take a penalty kind of service and will pay the service tax. Second thing if people don’t have enough amount in his account because of which he/she was unable to maintain the AQB, you will charge taxes also, so that he will become poorer, if he/she have enough amount then he/ she don’t need to pay service tax. Please look at these policies on which you work.
Lastly i would like to request you that kindly revert back my amount of AQB charges which you have deducted from my account and do not change my AQB limit from Rs.2500/- to Rs.5000 so that i can run my account in your prestigious bank. Otherwise i would like to close my account as i am unable to maintain Rs. 5000/ -AQB.
