On 04-05-2012 I attempted to make an online payment for a flight booking at www.cleartrip.com of Rs. 52,502 (Trip ID 1205043724). However the internet connection was interrupted and the transaction status was showing as failed.
Shortly afterwards I received a call from a Cleartrip agent asking me to repeat the payment by using ATM transaction. Finally the flight booking could be successfully paid by transferring Rs. 52,632 (transaction ID “ATM/XFR DR/04-05-12/21:58:01/0â€) to Cleartrip’s account.
After checking my bank statement I noticed that, despite of the failed transaction, the amount of Rs 52,502 had been also deducted from my bank account the same day. That means now I paid twice for the same flight booking! When calling the Cleartrip help line I was to told that this will be taken care of and I was asked to wait for some time. I also submitted my bank statements to their customer support by mail. But nothing happened. Even after frequent follow ups (mails, phone calls, registered letter) it could not be sorted out and I was only asked to wait for some more time. Finally I was informed by the help line that this amount could not be refunded because it had not reached Cleartrip's account.
So I requested my bank (ICICI) to check this and got a written confirmation from them that the amount of Rs. 52,502 had been successfully transferred to Cleartrip account no. 03********56 on 04-05-2012 (transaction no. SB5979344).
I hereby demand Cleartrip to refund this amount without any further delay!
