My father (Mr C. S. Pande) had been undergoing treatment in this hospital for chronic panreatisis and obstruction in the bile duct which had been repetedly causing him obstructive jaundice. Due to this problem several times ERCP was performed in the hospital. Considering reference of my collegues I brought my father to be treated by one of the most senior doctor of the hospital (Dr. Arun Kumar). Last year in (October - 2009) he was again suffering from the
same problem and thus a bye pass surgery was performed in the hospital itself.
We had faced several problems during the surgery also but then I never complained considering that this is the best of hospital and my father is in the best of hands.
Recently around a month back he was again having high fevers and thus I took him to a nearby hospital where a CT Scan was performed and it was learnt that the stent of the ERCP had not been removed and thus it was leading to problems. I consider it as a grave negligience in part of the hospital. I took him again to PSRI hospital for getting opinion of Dr Arun Kumar, where he accepted his mistake and asked us to come for endoscopy. Endoscopy was performed but it was at a cost which we had to bear completly.
Now my questions are:
1. After the major surgery was there no test performed to determine if everything went well. How can a foreign body be left inside the body unnoticed ?
I guess there were a lot many examinations performed but why were they not examined well ? Who is responsible for it ?

2. How should I be ensured that inspite of paying such a high cost (more that 4 Lacs) for my fathers surgery he was treated properly when such a negligience had occured by doctors ?

3. Is not the hospital resposible for such a negligience and why should we pay for
any of such problems which had been created by the hospital where already we have paid extremely high in terms of cash and kind. My father hails from Nainital and it does take a lot of effort time and money to reach a hospital like PSRI ?

This is my fury against the hospital and against doctors like Mr Arun Kumar who have no humanity left and treat people as mere objects.

I have all the proofs to prove that the above information is correct.
