My family has been using Maruti cars for last 20 years and we were satisfied with the quality and overall experience untill last week. My uncle was driving the car (maruti Swift Nov 2010 model) in the wee hours, when it suddenly caught fire in the engine. He immediately got out of the car and saved himself before getting help to put iff the fire. By the time the fire was put off, the engine of the car got totally burnt and even the headlights, front tyre got wasted. The car was in totally perfect condition with no issues whatsoever and used to have proper maintainenance and servicing. Besides the fact that his life was saved, it was horrible experience and has caused our family a great deal of financial disturbance. The worst part is when i called up Maruti customer care executive, he asked me to just call the nearest service station for help. When I asked him if he can do that on my behalf as I didn't have the number, he simply provided me the details instead of sending someone for help. Meanwhile I had filed an FIR to confirm the facts in records. I want the assistance from the company as their product had some fault due to which I have to suffer.

Himanshu, i suffered from same incident a day back. My Swift VDI caught fire all of sudden while i was driving it. First we saw smoke from bonnet and within few seconds it was on FIRE. We were lucky enough to get down and also get quick help to put off the fire. The car was then towed to the nearyby Maruti service center and it is under investigation now.
