My wife purchased one DELL VOSTRO Laptop on 03.06.2010. It is not working since last Saturday (16.07.2011). Power is coming , but not the LCD screen.
While I went to your sevice center at Park Plaza, Kolkata I had to wait for approx an hour before being called up by a person to know my problem. The concerned person after seeing my Laptop told me that the Warranty period is over in June'2011 and therefore I need to increase the warranty period by paying Rs.15500/- and subsequently they will check my Laptop and do the needful. I requested him to let me know the actual problem which he could not specify, but only told that probably the mother board has problems and needs replacement.
On my repeated requests he told me that I have to pay around Rs.1400/- for knowing the actual problem.
After this I preferred to come back to my office and talked to one of my known computer service provider who immediately sent a technician to my office and set right the problem at a cost of Rs.500/- only.
The problem detected - Out of two RAMs (2GB & 1GB), one RAM (1GB) was not working.
My question- Whether your people working in these service centers are meant for increasing the Warranty period by extracting huge sums from the hapless people who have purchased your Laptops by paying higher amount compared to other Laptops available in the market? can't they solve these problems instantly at a reasonable price and why the mahcines are having troubles just after the Warranty period is over?
