I am a regular commuter between Belghoria Station and Eden Gardens Station. I switch over from Dum Dum Station to catch the "Circular Railway". While switching over I have to use the overhead foot bridge. Now here lies the problem. Most of the time especially during the rush hours the overhead foot bridge is mostly occupied by beggars, urchins, lunatics, vagabonds and cell phone snatchers. On 12/07/2010 at around 09.05 Hrs while I was using the overhead foot bridge I was struck by a female lunatic with a stick from behind which landed on my left shoulder barely missing my head by a few centimeters. I am still recuperating from the injury. Now my complain is what are those RPF and GRP meant for. Neither they can prevent the dacoits from looting the passengers; neither they can free the platforms from unwanted elements like lunatics, vagabonds, urchins who always encroach upon the platforms, bridges and every possible place they find.
Madam Mamta Banerjee had been very kind to introduce "Matribhoomi Specials" for us. She should now also look after the safety of women passengers who daily go out of their homes to work. Also direct and instruct the RPF and GRP personnel to shed some lethargic attitude towards work and do some meaningful services to the nation instead of washing utensils and undergarments in their "Officers" homes.
