I had gone to Hyderabad Deccan (Nampally) station to confirm the process of Bike parcel to Delhi which I have to do next month. The man counter was absolutely non- cooperative about giving the details. When I asked about whom should I contact for packing the bike, he rudely answered "Talk to the man sitting outside the office". When I went outside, I saw the bikes being packed with a single cement bag with absolutely no protection against jerks. The man sitting outside the booking office told " I am the only one doing this and you don't have an option. Give extra money to me and I will arrange for safe loading of your bike"
A humble request to the concerned railway officials -
Please regulate these porters as cities like Hyderabad have a lot of incoming and outgoing working people who use railways to transport bikes. If railways charges additional Rs 1000/- (or more depending on the type and condition of bike) people like me will not have any problems as private packers and movers charge anything between Rs 5000/- to 10000/- for this job. If railway people can deploy trained people to handle sensitive cargo like Bikes, this can be a double benefit:
(1) People like me will not have to go through any harassment
(2) Railways will be able to generate much more revenue than they usually do by attracting business of unreliable "Packers & Movers"
I request the admins of this website to forward my complaint ASAP to South Central Railways
