We purchased a Digitek Automatic Water level controller from Digital Systems and Solution on 18-Jun-12. The same was installed by them and it comes with two years of warrenty. On 10-Oct-12 our water motor which was connected to the device had burnt and the cause was linked to the faulty wiring done by the vendor. The faulty wiring resulted in the starter and capacitor of the pump cathing fire and burnt our whole panel board.
We had to get the motor re-winded and the panel board fixed with new capacitor and re-wiring done. After which we had put in a service request to Digital systems and Solutions to service the device and fix the fault in it and also get the instrument back to normal working conditions.
Even after 3 months of constant followup and reminders for him to fix the instrument and connect it to the motor, They have failed to turn up. On 17-Jan-13 when we followed up for the same, he has denied to come and fix the instrument.
The faulty instrument has caused :
1. Fire Damage - A fire caught up in our electrical panel board because the starter and capacitor burnt due to incorrect wiring, which was very dengerous and could have cost us life and financial damage. Fortunately, We were able to put the fire off on time.
2. Financial - Replacing the starter cost Rs.3000, Winding the motor cost Rs.2500 and capacitors cost Rs.250. In total a cost of Rs.5750 was spent to fix the motor alone.
3. Economic - There was no water supply in our house for three days and had to depend on other water sources by transporting in cans.
I would request the vendor to adhere to one of the following.
Option 1 : Fix the faulty water level controller since free of charge since it is still under the 2 years of warrenty.
Option 2 : Compensate financially for the expenditure caused due to the faulty device as below.
Water level Indicator - Rs.4100/-
Motor repair cost - Rs.5750/-
A total of Rs.9850/- towards the money spent for device and repairs, plus damages/penalty for the vendor, applicable as per law.
