Dear Sir,
I am not sure whether my writing will make any effect or not, but still I would like to write...
After 5 years I return back to my country from USA and I was very excited and proud of my country and people. But feel very disappointment on 1st week itself in India, Pune city. Pune police is same as they were 5-10 years back, no change on them.
Unnecessary catch the person, threat them and finally make such kind of situation so other person finally scare and surrender and once he surrender police start looking what they can take from them.
In my case they took all my money and new imported branded duty free items.
26th March 2013, Pune main Railway Station
I was coming from Airport, bought some duty free items from airport (including Alcohol), Alcohol bottle was sealed pack and it was very costly, bought for gift. After Airport I have to travel by Train to go my home town, so came to Pune railway station, my train was on the platform; two police men in civil dress caught me and start checking my luggage, I show them all my luggage, they saw one bottle of Alcohol (sealed pack, not open), they were asking for Permit, I said I have receipt and I coming from Airport, Where is Permit, they said. I asked ‘what kind of Permit when custom officer allowed me to purchase and take with me why you are asking me those things’, they said you don’t know the rules? You did crime and breaking the Law, come to my office and fill some court form. Either pay fine of Rs 6500/ or go to jail for few months. Last 24 hours I was not slept well, 14 hours more I have to travel to reach my home, if I miss my train I would get another one. They know very well my train is about to leave but they were just playing with me and my emotion, I was bagging in front of them but they were treating me as a criminal and continuously saying don’t force me to do bad behavior with you. After 15 min they make me down, nervous and helpless. I had some money I show them all and ask to let me go my train is about to leave, they took me in one room, taken all money, my bottle and said they will write complain like they catch empty bottle and took the fine. They left me after 30 min and my train was started I could catch but I was very upset and nervous, felt like I did a very big crime, I had no money, I cannot withdraw money from ATM and all my cards are blocked. Finally I have decided not to go to my home in this mood. I was going to my home after 5 years and that also couldn’t possible because of this incidence. I return back and called my friend and request him to arrange one day accommodation and borrow some money.
After I came to home I have enquired about this Law, there is no such kind of Law I find like ‘you can’t carry sealed pack Alcohol bottle with you’. Again my question if government allowing purchasing Alcohol from airport and carry, then why I cannot carry the same in Train, All common person home towns does not have airport facility, they have to travel by Train or Bus.
27th March 2013, Pune, Near Dange Chowk
I was going to Office with my Bike, I have Papers, DL, PUC, and Helmet, but still officer took some money from me, he creates same kind situation and took money. I was telling them like this is my first day in Pune and going to office, but he was not believing me and treating me as a Criminal.
28th March 2013, Pune
I was planning to book the tickets online again to go to my home town, but all train was booked then I try to find some travel agent I got one but he was asking Rs 700/- his charge apart from train tickets, the original Tickets cost is Rs. 495/- and he is taking charge of Rs. 700/-, This is absolutely wrong.
I took the ticket but scarring to go to Railway station again had very horrible experience.
Still same kind of incident happening with me day by day and I cannot write all that here…
Now I am feeling, I took very wrong decision to come back to my Country, Actually this is not common man country, if you have some higher post approach or friendship with some politician, police man or lawyers then only you can survive, for common man it’s almost impossible.
No rules and regulation
No fixed price
Unnecessary price hike
