Respected Sir,
I am holding an PPF Account in the name of my minor child HIRTHIK.S bearing A/c No. ********922 since 08.03.2007 at Chennai Main Branch, Esplanade, Chennai-108
I am in receipt of an communication in respect of compliance of KYC norms as per the stipulation of RBI and am happy to adhere to the requirements called for in the communication by the respective bank.
Apart from the contents cited in the communication one Mr.Jayaram gives an oral communication to me that my minor child also has to come in person as per RBI stipulation to continue the PPF account further.
As far as my knowledge is concerned i have not come across any notification from the RBI in respect of the KYC norms to check the minor child for continuation of his PPF Account.
At the time of opening the account all the compliances are done only after which the account is opened. The other reason for calling of the minor child personally by Mr.Jayaraman is to check the existence of the child.
In our country no parent will continue an account where their child do not exist. What is the meaning of savings when for whom it is saved he or she itself do not exist.
Kindly look in to the above matter with concern as the same is causing a great hardship to us even though when we are the statutory auditors of nationalised banks. If we are put to such hardship then what will happen to other people who are penalised by the so created own rules of individual people at the bank branch level.
Thanking you in anticipation
S.Swarna Kumari
