Chennai 24 on Venkataraman Street, T.Nagar, Chennai-600 017 is attached to Lotus Serviced Apartments, who rent out rooms on a daily rental basis. It is a luxury business venture. Chennai 24 dump hotel waste profusely in the dustbin provided for residents of the street. When the bin is full, the garbage is dumped around the bin, posing health hazard and emanating stink as the garbage outside the bin is not cleared by Neel Metal Fanalca crew members for days together.
We sent a written complaint to Corporation Zonal Office 8 on Arcot Road, Chennai-26 by registered post , which was received by them on 26-8-2011. No action has been taken against our complaint.
Several dustbins in the area were removed about 4 to 5 months back by the residents of the area, who did not want the bins to be around their residential premises due to similar problems faced by them and therefore the entire area surrounding our road is maintained badly.
Ours is a decent residential locality and the garbage dumping by large producers of garbage like hotels and clubs is an uncontrollable menace.
We believe that hotels and other large producers of garbage are supposed to make their own arrangements for clearance of their garbage by delivering their garbage directly to agencies like Neel Metal Fanalca by paying certain charges to the Corporation of Chennai.
As hapless citizens having to put up with atrocities of mighty and powerful business establishments like hotels and clubs etc, may we solicit help from you to end this menace?
We would like to mention incidentally that M/S Pazhamudir Nilayam located on North Boad near our Street hand over their voluminous garbage directly to Neel Metal Fanalca lorries for disposal, which do not cause hardship to public living in the area.
We shall be highly grateful for your prompt and effective action. If we are wrong in our assumptions of rules and regulations of garbage dumping in bulk by establishments like hotels and clubs, please provide us a solution for the problem that we are facing.
With warmest regards
Gopalaswamy
