I was travelling via GF-065 on 16th Dec., 2011 from Mumbai to Doha via Bahrain. Reported for checking-in 3 Hrs. in advance. Upon reaching our turn, the staff at the counter requested us whether we can travel by another flight as this flight was overbooked. She promised us that we will be taken by a direct flight & will reach Doha earlier than the one which we had booked. She also promised that we will be given compensation for this change. We agreed to this. (I was travelling with my wife). We waited there for almost two & a half Hrs. Few other passengers who were bound to Doha was also offered the same package & were waiting. Finally when all the passengers were checked in, the same staff came to with apoligies that we had to travel with the same GF-065.
We were forced to hurry for immigration clearance& security check-up & finally reached the flight which was already delayed. On landing at Bahrain the connecting flight had already gone & the next flight was scheduled at 01:55 Hrs. almost 4 Hrs. later than the original flight. When enquired with the staff at your office as to why the flight took off without the Doha bond passengers the reply we got was a sarcastic smile as if to say that we had been fooled by Gulf Air. Why in the first place the Gulf air staff requested us to go by another flight? May be they just wanted to fill up the flight upto Bahrain & did not bother about the few passengers going to Doha. This is an unprofessional attitude from a service industry. I promise you, I will never be travelling by this airline if no action is taken against your staff & also I will forward this mail to all my friends & all available web sites.
