Dermatologist Dr Vijay Sharma, who had been arrested earlier by the Khar police in two separate cases of molestation, was arrested again by them on Thursday for allegedly molesting a small-time model. Sharma was later granted bail.
Sharma (50) was produced before the Bandra metropolitan magistrate court, which initially sent him to judicial custody. Later, he was granted bail on a cash bond of Rs 30,000 on the condition that he visits the police station regularly for two weeks. The Khar police, while seeking his remand, told the court that he was a habitual offender and hence should not be granted bail. "Sharma was acquitted in an earlier case as the victim turned hostile. Another case is still pending." said Mangesh Pote, senior inspector, Khar police station. Sharma's lawyer Vinay Chomal said, "My client has been framed. Sharma is in a profession where he is vulnerable to getting framed by rivals."
