My wife purchased a washing machine in Chellamani & Co in 2008. Before the product could be delievered, she got a job transfer to Bangalore and therefore had requested the then manager (Krishnan) to keep it with them until she returned to Chennai. The manager assured that as long as the bill was kept safe the product can be claimed any time. In 2009 my wife found the bill missing and met the manager, who claimed he can't do anything without the bill (sounds reasonable!) and that the product can still be claimed if the bill is submitted. 2 years later, she found the bill, but authorities in this company informed us that the bill is now useless, since the manager is no longer with the company. The present manager claims that the ex-manager might have swindled the product and that owner and the managent is not responsible for the loss. We were made to run from one branch to other only to be cheated. Could someone please advise what can be done? FYI, the bill doesn't mention a deadline to pick the product nor the bill has a delievered stamp on it and there is no record of the bill in thier online transaction.
