Please note permission to use loud speakers have been given to many mosques in the area I live which creates a nuisance to the general public. There is no need for the mullahs in the mosque to scream on top of their voices in the bid to wake up people for prayers - no country in the Gulf has any arrangement like this. Recently there was some function in the mosque and they were using the loudspeaker till late in the night - finally I had to call Kothanur Police station as I live in that jurisdiction. The police personnel who answered the call told me that the permission was given by DCP to use the loudspeaker all night. This is ridiculous and when I asked him for the DCP's name and number he meekly said he will send the beat police to ask them to put off the loudspeaker.
Last night again with the onset of Ramazaan the same issue has cropped up and the prayers or discourse is much above the permissible decibels. The police in the area are not interested in addressing the issues unless we call them and actually have to tell them what they are supposed to do. We have had beat policemen come to our layout and go to sleep in our clubhouse which is not acceptable at all.
May I request all special permissions for the use of loudspeakers for any religious groups should be totally banned as they always misuse the facility.
Kindly ensure that the general public should not be affected with noise as there are many people who have health issues due to old age, illness and also infants who generally don't get represented at all.
