Complaint by: Vikram on May 10, 2010, 2:15 am in Public Transportation and Taxi

I travelled from Paryatak Bhavan in begumpet to Anand Nagar colony in Khiaratabad via auto rickshaw no. Ap9 v 5722 at 01:30am after getting of the Aero Express Bus. The subject auto rickshaw driver initially asked for an exorbitant amount of 110 rupees. On negotiation, he finally agreed on putting the meter and said he will charge 1 1/2 times the amount. Assuming that the meter would not exceed 20-25 rupees i had agreed to the driver\'s condition. However to my dismay, i noticed after reaching half way that the distance calculator in the digital meter was not working and also the meter was climbing very quickly. On reaching Anand nagar colony, the meter was 39.80 rupees!

This is definitely a case of vandalism and cheating as i ended up paying 80 rupees for a trip from paryatak bhavan to Anand Nagar. The driver has definitely tampered with the meter of the auto rickshaw.

I request the concerned to look into the matter and consider cancelling the subject driver\'s licence and/or fine him accordingly to not repeat such act of treason with others.

I agree that Digital meters are a big digital fraud.

today (09Mar2012) , i travelled by auto no AP 13 Y 2200 from Lakdikapool Jn, to Gachibowli. I was observing how the meter was running. after about 100 meters, the meter jumped from Rs 14 to Rs 20. I kept telling the driver that there is someting wrong with the meter. i observed that very frequently, the meter jumped in multples of Rs 10. when i stopeed protesting repeatedly and at one point of time, i said i will get down and take another auto, he said i can give the usual rate which i normally give. After i got down at gachibowli, the meter was Rs 190. Normally, it should not cross Rs 120.

When i said i will pay only 120 or at max 130, he said, he refused to take it. He said i can do whatever i want or even complain to the police. He says police cannot do anything and he was ready to accompany me the police station.

Since i had no time to argue and go file a complaint in the police station, i had to pay Rs 190.

i feel the old manual meters are better. The digital meters are easy to manipulate.
