Complaint by: Tapan Rayaguru on April 25, 2011, 1:14 pm in Credit Cards

I had a Standard Chartered Credit Card which was given to me on 09/02/1996. I made my last payment on 11/04/2001 and settled all my dues. Since my card came up for renewal I called customer care and asked for cancellation of card, which was acknowledged and as asked by the executive I destroyed the card at my end. I was available at the same address for 3 months after that. Then I moved on in life, moved to my own house, had to travel to US on job for a period of 5 years. Now recently when one of my credit card was refused I asked for CIBIL report. To my surprise I see that Standard Chartered has reported 'WRITTEN OFF' to CIBIL and there is a overdue of rs 1,64,300.00.
I am not a defaulter. I had paid all my dues. I am not sure what fraud charge was put on the card after my cancellation.

Complainant's Goal: I want my credit report clean. It is a mental touture. I am not a defaulter.
