CREDIT CARDS - Remove name from Civil

I had few credit cards in past,ABN AMRO,HDFC,Dutche Bank,Standard Chartered.
I have settled all dues and closed the cards.But some of them updated my name in civil list.Recently, i have applied for car loan & got to know the fact.
1.How come,will know the list(bank name)?
2. How come I solve this issue?
3.Reference for lawyer.
