Hi

Am writing this mail to complain about the nightmarish train journey that we had yesterday. We travelled by the Mysore Tuticorin express on 14th October 12, Train # 16731, 2AC, A1 coach. As we entered we were greeted with cockroahes and mosquiotes. But the actual horror started when my 19 month old daughter started crying consistently. I applied Odomos on her(and on myself) thinking that she is being bitten by mosquiotes and when her crying didn't stop I gave her "Colic Aid medicine" thinking that her tummy must be hurting her. Even when she didn't stop crying after all this the elderly lady sleeping in the next berth switched on the lights and advised me to check her since she was being bitten as well. I was "SHOCKED" when i picked her up and realized that she was lying on bed bugs!!. There was bed bugs running all over the berth and this was the reason for her trauma. And to top it all the entire compartment was flooded as it was raining outside and the roof of the bogie was leaking!! All our luggage got wet and we spent the entire night holding our little one in our hands as we were scared of putting her down.

Am not sure if this complaint will get addressed but i wanted to let the authorities know the trauma that we went through. If this is the plight of a passenger travelling by 2 Tier AC i dread to think what must be the state of general compartments!!!

Suffered the same plight during our November travel. Same train, Same coach. However, our most recent experience in early April was pleasantly wonderful. The A1 coach now looks good with not a single insect/pest visible. The provided bedding was also bed-bug free although the cleanliness can still be improved.

All in all wanted to acknowledge the good work of the railways in addressing this complaint. Hope they continue to maintain it this way and on all trains. Made us want to travel by rail again. Train-travel that too in India has always been a coveted experience, at least for me and it will continue to be so only when the authorities as well as the travelling public understand and execute well on their responsibilities.
