Reliance Fresh - Clarification of additional swiping of debit/credit card by reliance fresh

Sir,
The payment was made at the Reliance Fresh Store at Ambala Cantonment by swiping my debit card in hand held POS. However, after having made this payment, the counter operator went to swipe my debit card in the billing console, which I denied by saying that the payment has been made and he was not suppose to swipe my card. May I know the legality on this issue? I am of opinion that the firm is illegally swiping the customers' debit or credit card for card details. Because the payment is done independently done through POS terminal. Please advice.

Yes I have faced similar issues in reliance stores.
When I asked the operator why is this done he/ she states that it is for capturing the card number and initiate printing of the bill. I am not convinced at all.
Not sure whether other (or may be all) details of the card also gets captured, which can be later used with out our permission..
Can any one clarify please..
