LEGAL NOTICE 13 JANUARY, 2015

The Head,
CITI BANK CARD SERVICES,CHENNAI

BE INFORMED THAT I have been given your CITI BANK, Indian oil credit card 5546 3702 2204 9485 and was your customer since about a decade. I was NEVER REPEAT NEVER was a defaulter at any given point of time during the entire period.
To my surprise, when I swiped the card @ Kailash filling station (Indian oil) at Nagole, RR DIST ,after taking fuel worth Rs2000/-, the card was NOT honoured, even though Card was honoured a minute before, while redeeming the reward points worth Rs 200/-( 8-14 PM)had to in the same transaction at the same filling station. Annoyed, I had to leave my card with them as a security, as I had No other way to pay.
When I returned home, I received an SMS at 8-31 PM saying “A recent transaction on your credit card ending 9485 was blocked as a pre caution. THE CARD IS NOW READY TO USE. Inconvenience regretted” As such, I went to the filling station on 13 Jan,2015 at about 12-40PM and swiped the card twice but was NOT HONOURED. Disgusted and disappointed, called the customer service ******** and call was answered by one Mr Pradeep, customer service executive and after keeping me on hold for 18 minutes (Rs 16-20 mobile phone charges to me) he rudely answered that the card CAN NOT be honoured .FED UP , I had no other option but to pay the filling station the balance in CASH Rs 1800/- (Receipt no 36092) and to receive back my Citi bank card from them. Entire transaction history was certified by the dealer in the form of Certificate.
In view of this I issue the LEGAL NOTICE with a demand for an UN CONDITIONAL APOLOGY IN WRITING TOGETHER WITH A COMPENSATION OF RS 25,000/-(Rs twenty five thousand only) for the Mental agony and distress, caused by your action.
If this is NOT honoured within Two weeks, I shall be constrained to approach the CONSUMER COURT, as your action amounts to DEFICIENCY IN SERVICE & UN FAIR PRACTICE AS PER CP ACT 1986, for the costs and consequences of which you shall be solely held responsible.
